Student Biography

Sharon Jankiewicz is a fifth year student of Architectural Engineering at Penn State University. She is currently working on her Senior Thesis and will graduate in May 2016 with a Bachelor and Master of Architectural Engineering with a focus in Stuctural Engineering. Last November, Sharon passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and will be eligible for EIT status upon graduation. She plans on working at an engineering firm as well as pursuing her PE license.

 

On campus, Sharon is involved with clubs such as the Student Society of Architectural Engineers and the Structural Engineers Association. She is the teaching assistant for Dr. Thomas Boothby, helping out with both AE 308: Intro to Structural Analysis and AE 422: Structural Systems II for Architects.

 

During Summer 2014, Sharon had the opportunity to study abroad with her AE classmates in the Sede di Roma program in Rome, Italy. There she took architecture studio, architectural analysis, cartography, and daylighting. This past Summer 2015, Sharon worked for HGA Architects and Engineers in Minneapolis, Minnesota as their structural intern.

 

Following the completion of her thesis, Sharon selected as a finalist and presented to the jury members on April 27. She was awarded First Place Strucatural Thesis, sponored by Cagley Associates. After graduation, Sharon will be joining Silman in Washington, DC.
